What is Opus23?
Opus23 is software that interprets raw genomic data. We take the raw DNA data from Dante Labs (or data you already have) and run it through the Opus23 database, which translates the raw genetic information into a format our consultants can review with you.
How does it work?
A lab like Dante Labs reports over 700,000 individual genetic markers called SNPs (pronounced "snips"). SNP stands for single nucleotide polymorphism, which just means that at one spot in your DNA, one of the letters (A, T, C, G) differs from what's typically expected. For example, you might have a "C" where a "T" would usually be. SNPs are extremely common, since everyone's genetics are a little different, and some have been studied in connection with health traits.
What’s the process?
If Dr. Blasi recommends you do a nutrigenomic assessment, you will be asked to contact the office to obtain a testing kit. When you receive the test kit, you will have to collect a saliva sample, fill out the forms, and then mail it back. In 1-2 weeks, you will receive an email that your results are ready. Once we have the raw data, we then can load it into Opus 23 and begin our analysis.
